Acclaim for Nokian tyres in Scandinavian, CIS tests
In addition to recent positive reviews in German motoring magazines, Nokian reports its summer tyres have met with success in Scandinavian and Russian tyre tests. The recently introduced Hakka Green summer tyre won an eight-tyre (size 205/55 R16) comparative test held by Finnish magazine Tuulilasi. This most recent addition to the Hakka summer line-up was especially praised for its excellent handling properties on dry and wet. “The best properties of the tyre include balanced and unchanging properties, both on wet and dry surfaces,” stated Tuulilasi. When discussing the tyre’s properties on wet roads, Tuulilasi noted that its neutrality and ease of driving in any situation.
Finnish automotive magazine Tekniikan Maailma declared the Hakka V runner-up in its fifteen-tyre summer comparative test. According to Tekniikan Maailma, the Nokian Hakka V’s grip is excellent, and its handling properties are a suitable combination of exact steering and ease of control. “The Nokian tyre promptly reacts to steering movements, and it is also stable when the driver has to make quick adjustments. In addition, the tyre is fairly silent. Nokian is one of the best choices you can make when driving in Finland in the summertime,” said Tekniikan Maailma. The publication tested a total of fifteen 205/55 R16 summer tyres. The Hakka V was tested with a V speed rating; the H-rated Hakka Green took sixth place in the same test.
The Nokian V, designed for Central European markets, took top honours in testing carried out by Sweden’s Auto, Motor & Sport magazine. According to Auto, Motor & Sport, the Nokian V is a good example of what the modern tyre industry is capable of producing. “Even though the Nokian V’s rolling resistance is lower than its predecessor, its wet grip properties are excellent: for example, the breaking grip on wet road was the best among the tested tyres. The Nokian V offers excellent handling characteristics even during aquaplaning. The behaviour of the tyre is excellent, and its braking distance on wet and dry surface is short. It is a quiet tyre with low rolling resistance.”
Heading eastwards, the Nokian Hakka H was ranked best tyre in a test by Russia’s largest car magazine, Za Rulem. A total of ten 185/60 R14 summer tyres were tested. “The tyre makes it easy for the driver to understand the behaviour and reactions of the vehicle. The tyre’s braking properties on dry and wet roads were the best among the tested tyres. On dry surface, Nokian Hakka H was almost a metre better than its closest competitor, and on wet roads, the difference was 1.3 metres,” said Za Rulem. The publication also tested size 205/55 R16 and ranked the Hakka V second-best: “The tyres behave well even at high speeds. Their slipping can be anticipated on wet asphalt, and driving requires almost no corrective movements. The vehicle behaves in a trustworthy and understandable way: there are no surprises. The tyres are economical at all speeds.”
The Ukraine added to this cluster of positive reviews – the Nokian Hakka Green was rated second only to the Michelin EnergySaver in a comparative test by AutoCentre magazine. The publication stated that the Hakka Green “is able to combine low rolling resistance with good excellent grip properties on wet. The Finns have been slightly more successful in this work. The Green’s grip was excellent on a wet slalom track, offering the best lap time. The tyre sometimes slips a little in curves when the speed increases but the grip and steering still remain good.” According to the magazine, the tyre’s positive features include its grip on wet and dry asphalt and its handling properties on all surfaces. The tested included nine size 185/60 R14 summer tyres.
The winner in a test by Belorussia’s AutoBild magazine was the Nokian Hakka V. It was ranked best in both wet and dry handling tests, plus in braking and aquaplaning tests. The tested size was 205/55 R16 and a total of six tyres were tested.
