70th Anniversary an opportunity for Hankook to concentrate on growth
As Tyres & Accessories reported on May 9, Hankook has reached its 70th anniversary. The tyre maker says it has decided against celebrating with “pomp and ceremony” and instead wishes to mark 70 years in the business by concentrating on its sustained growth. In this jubilee year, the South Korean company says it will also renew its promise to customers that in the coming decades it will “still tackle all challenges with passion and commitment and continue regional investment.”
“In the seventieth year of our existence, we want to lay the strategic foundation stone for the next seven decades together with our customers,” explained Hankook’s European chief, Jin-Wook Choi, in commemoration of the anniversary on 10th May. “To this end, we have considerably intensified our investments in the areas of branding, products and services to help us on our way to becoming a leading global company in every respect.” Specifically, Hankook will soon break ground on two additional global production facilities which will assist it in more efficiently satisfying the “sharp global increase” in demand for Hankook products. In addition, the tyre maker has invested in a new global research centre and is raising its profile through motorsport events such as the DTM touring car series and the Le Mans 24 Hour Race.
“Europe is our company’s biggest market and thanks to the well-renowned high quality of our products, we have been able to grow significantly here in the past years,” elaborated He-See Ahn, vice-president, Sales and Marketing at Hankook Tire Europe. “As a recognisable European tyre manufacturer, we will continue to invest in our presence in Europe. For example, with the soon to be completed capacity expansion of our Hungarian plant. This will enable us to reduce our delivery times and tailor our products more efficiently to the needs of the steadily increasing number of satisfied Hankook customers in Europe.”
