Travis Perkins and ATS Vacu-Lug Duramold WZY2
South West division of builders' merchant Travis Perkins and ATS Euromaster were joint winners of a nationwide treasure hunt organised by retread tyre manufacturer, Vacu-Lug Tyres. The two companies secured their win by discovering the 'treasure' – the serial number tag from Vacu-Lug's 100,000th Duramold WZY2 premium retread. As winners, Travis Perkins and ATS Euromaster share a treasure trove of £500-worth of tyres. Simultaneously, the find has triggered a £500 donation from Vacu-Lug to the Help for Heroes campaign.
“We were naturally delighted to find the serial number tag, primarily because of Vacu-Lug’s generous donation to Help for Heroes,” Andy Ray, group fleet manager for Travis Perkins commented. “It is also gratifying as we have a long-standing relationship with both Vacu-Lug and its service provider ATS Euromaster. In terms of the tyre itself, we regularly fit Duramold WZY2s to our heavy truck fleet.”
For Vacu-Lug, fleet sales director Dave Alsop said: “We too are delighted at Travis Perkins and ATS Euromaster’s success. Our congratulations go to them – and our cheque to Help for Heroes is now in the post! For our part, we now look forward to producing the next 100,000 WZY2s.”
In four years since its launch, the Duramold WZY2 tyre has proven itself as a high performer in the on-off road, waste and municipal sectors and is consequently a popular choice among operators today. Featuring a deep tread pattern, wide profile and low rolling resistance, the Duramold WZY2 is produced using a specially formulated compound. While intended primarily for on-road use, the tyre is designed to be sufficiently rugged to withstand the rigours of operation in municipal/waste transfer stations.
