New private brand ‘inter-seasonal’ tyre launched?
Having witnessed the ascendency of private brands and exclusive budget labels in numerous European markets, the team at Tyres & Accessories has decided to pool its vast industry knowledge and release its own private tyre label. Known as ‘Tyrepress’, a subtle nod to the popular website the United Kingdom based company operates, this new range includes summer and winter sizes along with – in a European first – fitments specifically designed for spring and autumn use.
“Over the years we’ve reported on all manner of private brand products,” commented T&A spokesman Bruce Stephens at the range’s 1 April gala launch in Manchester. “From the good, to the bad, to the ugly – we’ve seen them all, and now we’ve decided to put this accumulated knowledge to good use. Our specialised industry experience has helped us design a product we can safely and without bias call the best in the world.”
All stages in the Tyrepress range’s development were personally overseen by Tyres & Accessories editorial staff, Stephens shares, from mould design and construction through to testing at the publication’s own secret test facility in Staffordshire. He adds that the tyre industry publication has entered into an exclusive production contract with a manufacturer located “somewhere south of Europe” and the range is expected to be available in UK retail outlets “when stocks arrive.”
Inter-seasonal fitments
A key selling point within the Tyrepress range is expected to be the new inter-seasonal fitments. Explaining the decision process leading to this revolutionary new product, Stephens stated: “It’s April now. Check your calendar. Winter is over but summer’s still a couple of months’ away. You don’t suddenly hang your winter jacket on the peg and venture outside dressed just in a t-shirt and shorts, do you? So why treat your car any differently?” Anticipating potential storage difficulties that motorists may face upon purchasing and owning three or, optimally, four sets of season-specific tyres, Tyres & Accessories has announced plans to roll out a chain of ‘tyre hotel and spa resorts’ throughout the UK and Western Europe branded under the “here’s how to really look after your tyres” tag line.
The Tyrepress private brand will be available in fitments for 13 to 22-inch rim diameters and “the best” speed ratings, Stephens reports, adding that the list of individual sizes is “too long to mention.”
