Bridgestone supporting innovation through schools
Bridgestone is supporting a competition that sees primary schools up and down the country encourage potential car designers of the future to think creatively about the future of the environment and green transport. The Green Machine competition involves pupils designing a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly, futuristic vehicle which could be anything from cars, vans and trucks to motorbikes, aeroplanes and helicopters.
Andy Dingley, communications manager at Bridgestone UK, says: “Bridgestone is committed to supporting innovation and developing green technologies. This is an exciting project for us and it’s great to be able to encourage our future vehicle designers to think about the importance of transport on the environment.”
The winning school will receive a £500 cash prize and a set of Bridgestone truck tyres which can be used as raised beds to grow vegetables, plants and flowers – encouraging pupils to think about recycling, the environment and sustainable living.
The winning entry will also have a miniature version of their green vehicle illustrated by a professional artist and displayed at the Bridgestone Eco Rally later this year – a showcase of the latest innovations in green vehicles. They will be presented with their design at a presentation assembly at their school.
