Yokohama US “guarantees” steer tyre cost-per-mile savings at Kentucky’s MATS
Yokohama Tire is giving truck fleet owners in the USA a chance to try out its 101ZLT steer tyre in open comparison with other tyres on the open roads in what the company is calling the 101ZLT SmartSolutionT Challenge. The contest will begin at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) in Louisville, Kentucky between 31 March and 2 April.
Rick Phillips, Yokohama Tire Corporation’s director of commercial sales said: “We’ll reveal the full details of the contest at MATS in our booth (14124). Essentially we’re going to guarantee the 101ZL will have the lowest cost-per-mile over the course of a year, or we’ll double the difference back in cost-per-mile.”
Phillips said the 101ZL SmartSolution Challenge will highlight the eco-sensitive steer tyre that “runs longer, and is more trouble-free and efficient than anything we’ve ever brought to the market. The 101ZL, part of our high-tech ZenvironmentR line, provides at least a 10 per cent increase in overall tread life and significant resistance to irregular wear.”
The 101ZL is on the EPA’s SmartWay list of verified low rolling resistance tyres. Other Yokohama SmartWay tyres include the new RY407T super single wide base trailer tyre, 103ZR and RY617T steer tyres, RY587T trailer tyre, and 703ZLT and TY517MC2T drive tyres. The tyres meet the SmartWay program’s challenging verified low rolling resistance criteria, which includes running cooler and helping to reduce fuel consumption, cut costs and benefit the environment.
The 101ZL’s “Zenvironment technology” yields “incredible durability, excellent longevity and remarkable fuel efficiency,” according to Phillips. The other tyres in Yokohama’s Zenvironment line are the 703ZLT, 103ZRT and 501ZAT. The 101ZL is available in sizes 295/75R22.5, 11R22.5, 11R24.5 and 285/75R24.5.
“Fleet owners interested in taking the 101ZL SmartSolution Challenge should come to the MATS booth or contact their local Yokohama representative for full contest details,” concluded Phillips.
