Maxxis receives 2010 Ford Gold Award
At the Ford Motor Company’s annual World Excellence Awards, held on March 16, Cheng Shin Rubber was honoured by the vehicle manufacturer with a Gold Award, the highest recognition to Ford’s global suppliers. The Maxxis brand manufacturer was one of only 15 Gold Award recipients out of the 1,500 or so suppliers Ford obtains components from around the world and the only tyre maker amongst the 15. Wheel manufacturer Ronal also received a Gold Award, while Hayes Lemmerz was one of 26 Silver Award recipients.
Announcing the recognition it received, Maxxis International comments that the award “recognised Maxxis’ outstanding contribution to Ford’s success in 2010 through exemplary quality, delivery and cost” and shares that only the top five per cent of qualifying suppliers are eligible for the Gold Award. “Maxxis thanks Ford for this honour, and also extends its thanks to its employees around the world, whose efforts are the foundation of its success,” added the Taiwan-based tyre maker in a press statement.
Maxxis has supplied original equipment tyres to Ford in Taiwan since 1991. In 1994, the company was awarded Ford’s Q1 certification, and Maxxis currently supplies tyres to Ford in Taiwan, China, North America, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.
