Lanxess relocates Tokyo office staff
Lanxess has announced the temporary closure of its office in Tokyo. For the time being, management from the Tokyo office will be based in Toyohasi, some 250 kilometres southwest of the Japanese capital. The specialty chemicals firm’s Rhein Chemie operates a production facility for rubber chemicals in Toyohashi.
“We are shocked by the immensity of the disaster. Our thoughts are with those affected by this tragedy,” said Lanxess Board member Rainier van Roessel. “The safety of our employees in Japan is our top priority. We have set up a crisis management team to continuously analyse the situation and monitor further developments together with the Country Head in Japan.”
The German company has already imposed an employee travel ban on flights to Japan and reassures that none of its approximately 100 employees within the country were harmed in last Friday’s disaster. Lanxess also reports its facilities in Japan are undamaged.
