Fulda launches SportControl UHP summer tyre
Fulda has launched its new ultra-high performance summer tyre, the SportControl. Designed for “sporty driving”, in the brand’s words, the tyre features “progressive humps throughout the width of the tread, which help to optimise stiffness and force distribution from tyre to road.” The tyre has a full silica tread compound and new “Aqua Flow” tread grooves provide enhanced grip and shorter braking distances in wet conditions. The tyre also has a low weight carcass to reduce rolling resistance.
Fulda says the “value-conscious driver demands a quality tyre that can go the extra mile”, and has such constructed a tyre to deliver better pressure distribution to even wear over the tyre’s life; the feature should also provide a more comfortable ride, lower noise emission and greater mileage potential.
“We are enormously proud of the performance of the new Fulda SportControl UHP tyre,” says Alain Klepper, brand director Fulda Europe, Middle East and Africa. “The ultra-high performance tyre segment remains one of the fastest growing tyre segments in Europe. With the new SportControl we reconfirm Fulda’s long-standing reputation of delivering quality, German-engineered tyres for the value-conscious driver.”
Fulda says independent testing organisation TÜV-SÜD Automotive tested the SportControl in November 2010 against two direct competitors in size 225/45R17 94Y fitted to a Volswagen Golf VI 1.4 TSI; the tyre achieved an average 3 metres shorter braking distance on wet and an average 14 per cent better rolling resistance than competing tyres.
The tyre is now available in all the major UHP sizes, with more available in February 2012.
