Dunlop renews motocross title assault with factory teams
Dunlop has announced that its Geomax tyre is the choice of factory-backed teams from Honda, Yamaha and KTM in both MX1 and MX2 classes of the 2011 Motocross World Championships. Dunlop’s links with Motocross go back to the beginnings of the sport. The brand has a “race-to-road” (or in this case “off-road”) policy with motorsport, and using it as a “high-pressure development laboratory teaches the designers important lessons,” which can be passed on to customers, incorporated directly into the production tyre range.
The MX51 features the Geomax Reinforced Pattern for enhanced traction, cornering grip, bump absorption and longer life, over the widest range of conditions, says Dunlop. The series runs over 15 rounds, with races in Brazil and the USA, as well as all over Europe. Dunlop supports teams in the top two classes: MX1 (450 four-stroke, 250 two-stroke) and MX2 (250 four-stroke/125cc two-stroke).
“We have a long history in motocross racing, with many trophies in the cabinet”, says Dunlop’s European marketing director Sharon Antonaros. “To continue innovation of off-road tyre products for our customers, we need be developing and testing at the highest level of competition and we’re pleased to be putting our support behind the world championship this year.”
