Avon Tyres official supplier for MSV F3 Cup
Avon Tyres Motorsport, the competition tyre division of Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe, has been confirmed as the official supplier of racing tyres to the 2011 MSV F3 Cup – a series for former Cooper Tires British Formula 3 Series cars. David Scott, race operations manager for MSVR, said: “In the past few weeks there have been intense discussions with tyre and fuel suppliers for the 2011 MSV F3 Cup. As a result, I am delighted to announce that our suppliers will be Avon Tyres Motorsport and Sunoco Race Fuels. Both of these suppliers are well known to the competitors and will require no changes to the cars.”
The club racing series, run by MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR), will run on tyres the same size as those used by the contemporary machines (180/550R13 front and 250/570R13 rear), but with a slightly softer compound more suited to less-aggressive drivers. The tyres are a bespoke Avon branded product designed and manufactured parallel to those for the British Formula 3 Series. Avon has also produced a more durable wet tyre for 2011 and the cost to the competitor will be lower than in 2010. Tyre service at all MSV F3 Cup events will continue with BMTR.
Brian Davies, sales manager for Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe said: “It’s a pleasure to still be chosen to supply tyres for the series as it enters a new era. The MSV F3 Cup looks set to be a very interesting series and it’s great to be able to maintain our strong relationship. With our experience of supplying tyres to the British F3 championship for almost 30 years, hopefully we can all enjoy the success of the MSV F3 Cup.”
The winner of this year’s MSV F3 Cup will win a test drive in an FIA Formula Two car, which also runs on Avon rubber.
