IRSG Chief to Open “Largest” Tyrexpo Asia
Tyrexpo Asia 2011 organiser ECI International has announced that the event’s eighth staging in Singapore will be opened officially by Dr Stephen Evans, secretary general of the International Rubber Study Group (IRSG). The Singapore-based IRSG provides statistical data and analysis for all aspects of the rubber industry. In opening the show, Evans will follow in the footsteps of his predecessor at the IRSG, Dr Hidde Schmidt, who performed a similar role at the opening of Tyrexpo Asia in 2009. ECI says the show will be the largest in terms of exhibitor numbers in the 15-year history of the event when it opens its doors from 29-31 March, 2011.
“In 2009 the market was cautious and uncertain as a result of the global financial crisis,” states Rowena Suthers, sales director for event organiser ECI International. “But two years later we are looking at the greatest number of companies that have ever been involved in the event. The change in mood and confidence is very noticeable and we are optimistic that will also increase further the number of local and international visitors who come to do business at the show.”
The host country Singapore is strongly represented by companies including Stamford Tyres, Omni, Mindtrac, Newera Equipment, YHI and Belshina Asia, the regional arm of the Russian tyre manufacturer. China’s continued drive for export sales, particularly in the OTR and heavy industrial tyre sectors, makes it the largest single exhibiting nation. India is also prominent through leading names such as BKT, CEAT, Elgi Rubber, Malhotra Rubber, Midas Precured Treads, Speedways and Superking.
