Di Grassi Rumoured to Replace de la Rosa in Pirelli F1 Seat
Lucas di Grassi is rumoured in motorsport news sources to be the new Formula One test driver for sole tyre supplier Pirelli. Di Grassi spent last season driving for the newly-established Virgin team, but lost his 2011 seat to Jerome d’Ambrosio of Belgium.
Pedro de la Rosa, the current Pirelli test driver whose contract ends this week is thought to be considering his options, though motorsport.com reports that it is expected he will continue to work for the Italian manufacturer, while di Grassi would replace Romain Grosjean, who returns to GP2 with the DAMS team. The news site explains that the DAMS team is linked closely with Renault, whose F1 team is expected to give Grosjean the number three driver spot, ruling him out from any testing work with Pirelli.
