Bailey, Völmicke join new Goodyear Dunlop communications team
Goodyear Dunlop’s James Bailey is joining a new Brussels based team headed up by the company’s EMEA communications director Tom Delforge after accepting a promotion to the newly-formed role of director, brand PR for the company’s Europe, the Middle East and Africa region. In his new position, Bailey will promote the Goodyear and Dunlop brands throughout the various EMEA markets; his brand-focused position complements that of fellow team member Jens Völmicke, previously brand and product PR manager at Goodyear Dunlop Europe. In the new role of EMEA region Corporate Communications director Völmicke will be involved with communications involving Goodyear Dunlop as a company, covering a range of subject areas including corporate responsibility and sustainability.
Speaking about his new position, the former Goodyear Dunlop Tyres UK and Ireland corporate communications manager said “each region has a market for most of our products, ranging from ultra high performance motorsport tyres for cars and motor cycles, through to original equipment tyres created for executive and family cars as well as trucks, buses and agricultural equipment. When you factor in geographical influences, from the north of Europe where cold weather tyres are essential, to the Middle East where searing heat is the norm, then you can see that there is a real opportunity to communicate the benefits of the right tyre for each market.”
Bailey joined Goodyear Dunlop in 1996 as a product manager. His new role will see him divide his time between the Dunlop Motorsport facility in Birmingham, Brussels and on the ground in the EMEA markets. Speaking with Tyres & Accessories, Bailey said his successor as corporate communication manager would most likely be announced before the end of February.
