Apollo Becomes Kwik-Fit “House Brand” in The Netherlands
Apollo Tyres has announced a deal with Kwik-Fit to sell its tyres throughout the fast-fitter’s 180 car service centres across The Netherlands. Apollo’s entire summer and winter range of passenger car and 4×4 tyres will be available from Kwik-Fit. Martin Post, general director at Kwik-Fit, said, “Apollo is a trendy brand that suits the character of Kwik-Fit. We very much look forward to offering our customers quality tyres from Apollo.”
The Apollo brand made its public entrance to the European market last year at the Reifen 2010 show, following its acquisition of Vredestein Banden on 15 May, 2009. Since then, Apollo Vredestein has ramped up its European imports of the Apollo brand from its Vadodara, India plant to 50,000 per month; it said it expected this figure to reach 65,000 by the end of 2011’s first quarter. The brand is also manufactured in South Africa and Europe.
Rob Oudshoorn, CEO of Apollo Vredestein BV, said: “Kwik-Fit is a recognised tyre specialist in Europe and naturally we are happy to be associated with their vast network. We believe that our mutually beneficial alliance with Kwik-Fit in Holland will enable us to reach out to more customers, introducing them to the joy of using an Apollo product. Brand Apollo, which had entered the European market in June 2010, is currently available in The Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy, even as we consider spreading ourselves to newer geographies. An alliance like this will only make us that much more nimble footed.”
Apollo says it employs over 13,000 people and has a global production capacity of 1,500 tonnes per day from its nine manufacturing facilities in India, South Africa and Europe.
