Alliance Claims Industry First with All-Steel Flotation Radial
The 390 – an all-steel radial flotation tyre released by Alliance Tire Group in the US – has become the first flotation radial to receive Department of Transport certification for highway use at 50mph. According to Michel Aguon, Alliance Tire Americas’ product manager, the 390 is also the industry’s first all-steel flotation radial plus the first that can carry nearly 11,000 pounds (5,000kg) of load at 50mph.
“The new, all-steel 390 provides performance, speed and versatility that will allow farmers to lower their operating costs and improve their productivity,” said Aguon. “This is a world-class innovation, the next generation of flotation tyre from the company that introduced the first radial flotation tires to the world market.”
Aguon adds that the steel belts in the 390 deliver “outstanding resistance to cuts and punctures and ensure a broad, flat footprint for improved traction and flotation.” The tread compound used is described as rugged and a factor that will improve wear resistance to maximise service life and return on investment. “Extensive on-farm testing in the US and abroad shows longer service life and higher load-speed performance than competitors’ nylon-construction radial flotation tyres, with no downtime.”
The 390 is currently available in the popular 600/50R 22.5 size, widely used on manure tanks and wagons, grain carts and agricultural trucks. Other sizes are reported to be in development and will soon be available.
