Maxxis Unveils App to Accompany New Website
As well as rolling out a new website at the start of next year, Maxxis International is taking of smartphones to promote its brand. In the new year the company will launch a mobile phone app developed for Apple, Android, and Blackberry devices. This Maxxis app will enable people to research Maxxis products and get the latest news about the Maxxis Babes and Maxxis- sponsored sports events teams and drivers and its calendar of performance/tuning shows.
The free to download app is being targeted at the performance enthusiast marketplace and will enable fans to check which Maxxis tyre is right for their car – searching by size, pattern or type in much the same way as the research facility available on www.maxxis.co.uk. It will be possible to send an enquiry about the Maxxis range and request a call back, while users can also locate their nearest Maxxis retailer, since the app can employ a GPS signal to locate the user if supported by the device.
By setting details for a particular Maxxis-sponsored sport or driver in the phone’s favourites folder, app users can receive information tailored to their specific interests. Those with a thing for the Maxxis Babes, for example, can now use their smartphone as a handy tool for keeping track of the lovelies. Users can sign up to receive alerts, enabling them to find out whenever the Babes update their blogs, and can check where the girls will be throughout the motorsport/performance show season.
The app will also enable fans to keep up to date with Maxxis and its sporting activities. Users can access driver/rider and team profiles and can opt to receive alerts about events, so they will always know when the next Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship or BSB round takes place and will be able to access the latest news about the Maxxis British Drift Championship – in which the Maxxis-sponsored Team Japspeed drivers will be fighting for the victor’s spoils – as well as updates about Maxxis activities at some of the UK’s biggest performance/tuning shows.
“The highly successful affiliation with Max Power magazine and partnership with special-interest media company Future enabled us to make major inroads in terms of generating brand awareness among performance, styling and tuning fans,” commented Maxxis International UK’s managing director Derek McMartin. “With the development of this new mobile phone app, we intend to build on our achievements in 2010 by appealing directly to and developing a greater affinity with those people who live and breathe high performance sports, whether they prefer two wheels or four.”
