Maxxis Highlights Off-Road Bike Strengths in MOTO Feature
Maxxis is aiming to promote its credentials as a specialist in the field of off-road motorcycle tyres through sponsoring an editorial feature in the UK consumer magazine MOTO. The tyre maker describes the eight-page article as one that “spells out everything riders need to know about tyres to get the best out of their motocross bikes.” The article, ‘Tyre 101: the ultimate guide to rubber’, appears in the November issue of the magazine and explains why the failure to select of rubber fit for the intended purpose could lower a bike’s performance and potentially ruin an otherwise perfectly good set of tyres.
The article explains “everything you wanted to know about tyres but were afraid to ask”, such as why tyre choice for off-road motorcycle riding is governed not only by budget, but also by where, how often and how fast you ride. It also covers when to change tyres, advice on pressures and helps riders understand the advantages of the traditional inner tube by comparison with mousse.
A step-by-step guide to tyre changing includes tips from Maxxis Henderson LPE Kawasaki chief technician Mike Forster. Changing tyres is the job that motocross riders most dislike yet according to Henderson it need only take ten stress-free minutes if you prepare properly, have the right tools to hand and adopt a methodical approach.
In its positioning of Maxxis as a specialist in off-road motorcycle tyres, the article promotes the full Maxxis range, which incorporates soft, intermediate and hard terrain tyres, a purpose-designed product for use in sand and the enduro tyre for racing in locations such as public land and woods.
