Marangoni Goes Green with 2011 Show Car
It has become annual tradition at Marangoni to unveil a tuned demo car sporting its tyres. This year the tyre maker showed off the ‘Z-Hydro’, a modified Nissan 370Z, but for 2011 Marangoni has selected a vehicle from its homeland to ‘give the business’. Next year’s car is being introduced to the world at December’s Bologna Motor Show; visitors to Marangoni’s stand will meet the Giulietta G430 iMove Marangoni, sitting resplendent on glow-in-the-dark green tyres.
The specially produced M-Power iGreen tyres used on the tuned Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1750 Quadrifoglio Verde were inspired by mobility in the modern world and the ability to “move around in style whilst caring for the environment,” states Marangoni. And the size 235/35 R19Y tyres are not the car’s only green mobility feature – tucked away in its boot is a version of the Segway i2 produces especially for the Italian tyre maker. An iPad integrated into the Alfa Romeo’s dashboard also permits virtual mobility.
The tyres are based on Marangoni’s M-Power, a new ultra high performance product the manufacturer will soon start marketing. This upcoming range, says Marangoni, is the result of considerable investment in technology and research. The end product is describes as a tyre with a sporting soul, extremely high performance and progressive handling – in effect, a tyre designed to ensure maximum driving pleasure and the highest level of safety.
Preparation of the Giulietta G430 iMove Marangoni has been managed by the TRC Italia style centre under the guidance of Simone Neri, and all components designed for the car will be marketed by the Florence-based tuning components company in 2011. The Alfa Romeo has been lowered some four centimetres using KW threaded strut housings and the standard brakes replaced by Tarox B360 10-pot calipers and composite discs with 330×26 diameter brake rotors. The acid green tyres are fitted on Barracuda Karizzma 8.5×19 wheels. Bodywork on the car underwent a number of modifications before being completely repainted charcoal grey using a very fine textured paint and then finished with a 100 per cent matte clear coat. Interior work on the Giulietta G430 iMove Marangoni is the creation of Italian clothing label Conte of Florence; the same green found on the tyres has been employed inside the car, reflecting one of the themes in Conte of Florence’s 2010-11 autumn-winter collection. Under the bonnet modifications have managed to squeeze an extra 51 HP out of the Alfa Romeo, boosting it up to 286 HP and giving more powerful delivery even at low revs.
During the course of 2011 Marangoni’s tuned car will be shown at more than ten European exhibitions and events.
