Metzeler Launches ‘Classics’ Calendar
Pirelli has its ‘Cal’ – the latest of which, incidentally, is being unveiled in Moscow on November 30 – and the company’s Metzeler brand also has a calendar of its own. London’s Ace Café was chosen as the launch venue for the 2011 edition of Metzeler’s ‘Classics’ calendar, and the tyre maker reports an enjoyable evening was had members of the Metzeler ‘community’.
“It was great to see so many people from all over the Metzeler community supporting the launch of the Classics Calendar,” commented Metzeler’s director of marketing, Francesco Pietrangeli. “This wasn’t just an event limited to the Metzeler riders in the UK, this was a worldwide spectacular and I want to thank all of those involved for their help and support in making the launch such a resounding success. Once again the Metzeler community has shown its true spirit.”
Initially launched as a special edition of the cult Classic Moments calendar in 1994, the Metzeler Classics calendar rapidly gained a life of its own. The pictures used in each annual calendar are selected by a team of Metzeler staff from the archives of some of the world’s premier motorcycling photographers.
The calendar launch event also signalled the extension of Metzeler’s ‘Ride Experience’, into the UK. The tyre maker explains ‘Ride Experience’ as being “a new concept combining the passion for motorcycling with an online community for blogging, video, riding routes, online debate and the ability to exchange views and tips.” From January 2011, Metzeler will extend this popular blogging idea from Italy, Spain and Germany to both the UK and France via www.ridexperience.co.uk and www.ridexperience.fr.
