HiQ Mascot Signs Up for Charity Run
Some say he is HiQ’s answer to the Stig, and unlike his television counterpart he’s unlikely to publish a book revealing his secret identity. All we know is, he’s called HiQ Bertie, and he is getting involved with the fast-fitter’s Project Pink campaign for Breast Cancer Care. The HiQ mascot is known to hundreds through his presence on the company’s Facebook page, and HiQ says he has captured the imagination of so many people that he has decided to get involved in fundraising activities.
According to the fast-fit network, the usually reserved character that is HiQ Bertie threw his weight behind HiQ’s Pink October and gave a list of activities he would be prepared to take part in. Hundreds of visitors to HiQ online voted for the challenge they wanted Bertie to participate in. Passing over a bath of baked beans, a leg wax and a head shave, site visitors voted for HiQ Bertie to undertake a ten kilometre run.
A date for the charity run has not yet been announced, but when Bertie limbers up at the starting line it will be the first time the elusive character will be seen in glorious 3D. Commenting on his upcoming run and his step into solidity, Bertie said: “I don’t usually move around much, so 10k might be a bit of a test for me. But don’t let appearances deceive you. I may look a bit statuesque, but I’ll be so quick off the mark that if you blink, you’ll miss me.”
“Hundreds of people voted for the task they wanted Bertie to carry out,” added HiQ marketing manager Geraldine McGovern. “We’re not used to seeing Bertie so animated so it will be fun to see him complete his challenge. Our Pink October festivities have been a big success overall, and it is nice to keep the interest going with another eye-catching initiative.”
