Cooper Tire Wins SEMA Global Media Award
Cooper Tire has been awarded the Global Media Award from the 2010 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas. More than 2,000 new products were registered at the show, and from these a judging panel of 26 journalists from 16 countries selected a small number of products based on their potential impact and commercial success. Cooper’s Discoverer S/TMAXX, due to be launched February 2011, was chosen because of its all terrain performance capabilities.
“We’re very proud to be recognised for our innovation on a global scale,” said Steve Sawyer, Cooper Tire’s director of brand and product management. “We strive to meet the demands and needs for our customers worldwide, not just in the US, so we’re incredibly thrilled with the reception we’ve received for the new Discoverer S/TMAXX.”
The Discoverer S/TMAXX will replace the Discoverer S/T-C and selected sizes in the Discoverer S/T range. The S/TMAXX will feature Cooper’s 3-ply “Armor-Tek3” carcass construction plus a new proprietary cut and chip resistant tread compound. Cooper comments this combination will aid the S/T MAXX in its goal of being a true commercial grade traction tyre that will perform in the toughest terrains. The new range will be available in eight sizes ranging from 16 to 18-inch rim diameters.
