Conti ProContact wins ‘Best New Product’ at SEMA
A member of Continental’s North American tyre range, the ProContact with EcoPlus Technology, has been awarded “Best New Product” at the 2010 Special Equipment Marketing (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas. In acknowledging its receipt of this distinction, Continental notes the tyre’s low rolling resistance and fuel-saving qualities were the main factors behind the all-season tyre’s selection.
“We’re very honoured to be receiving this prestigious award,” said Bill Caldwell, vice president of sales and marketing, Continental Tire. “The ProContact with EcoPlus Technology tyre is a cut above the rest. Our engineers have specifically designed it to not only save our customers money, but to also reduce CO2 emissions – which is something that is very important to Continental Tire as a company. This tyre is a reflection of our focus and commitment to environmental responsibility.”
According to the manufacturer, the ProContact with EcoPlus Technology is built to “deliver excellent wet traction and remarkable treadwear”, and it has been “proven to deliver more controlled braking and significantly shorter stopping distances in wet conditions.” EcoPlus Technology consists of two main components: Tg-F Polymers and +Saline. The Tg-F polymers are temperature-activated, functional polymers that increase compound-bonding, improving the tyre’s wear and fuel efficiency. The second component of EcoPlus Technology, +Silane, is an additive that works to enhance the tyre’s grip on slippery roads, thereby reducing stopping distances. These technologies are intended to work together to enhance the driving experience for a long tyre life when conditions are normal and provide excellent wet braking on slippery roads.
