Avon Tyres Secures 3-Year BRSCC Formula Ford Deal
The British Racing and Sports Car Club has chosen Avon Tyres to supply tyres to both of its Formula Ford 1600 Championships for the next three years, and will also support the club to help it promote its showpiece event – the Formula Ford Festival. “Naturally, we’re delighted to have secured the agreement to supply FF1600 for another three years,” said Paul Coates, general manager, Avon Tyres Motorsport. “We’re very keen to work with the BRSCC on further initiatives to secure the long-term future of FF1600.”
FF1600, which features spaceframe chassis with 1.6-litre Kent engines, has been a mainstay of club racing in Britain for more than 40 years. Competitors race in either a north or a south regional championship, with points scored also counting towards a national title. The Festival is a knock-out event that rounds out the season. Seasoned racers compete against up-and-coming talents which, alongside stable regulations and the use of Avon’s ACB10 tyre, produces close racing.
“Formula Ford has long been acknowledged as the very best category in which aspiring racing drivers should cut their teeth. As such, we believe it is one of the most important championships in UK club motorsport and always produces fantastically close racing,” concluded Coates.
Tyre supply for each of the championships will be serviced by Birmingham-based BMTR, which distributes and services tyres for the many European club racing interests of Cooper Tire, which manufactures and markets the Avon brand.
