XPart Suggests Careful Choice of Garage for Winter Checks
Parts supplier XPart has suggested that motorists should choose their garage carefully when taking their car for a pre-winter service. “Garages have a duty of care towards their customers to complete maintenance and repair work with a good level of skill, within an agreed timeline and at a reasonable cost,” comments Barry Smith, UK sales manager, XPart. The catalyst for these suggestions was a damning report in Which? magazine earlier in the year that pointed towards a general lack of rigour in carrying out checks and repairs on the public’s cars.
“When selecting a garage to carry out important maintenance checks and servicing prior to winter, motorists should ask for quotes and understand exactly what the work will entail, which checks will take place and which parts might need to be replaced,” continues Smith.
In spite of the grim picture painted by the survey, XPart says there are a great many garages in the UK with highly experienced technicians who take pride in their work and offer a thorough approach, including their own affiliated AutoCentres: “Our network can also provide motorists with free advice and top tips to help ensure their cars survive the winter,” continues Smith. “These include tyre pressure and tread depth checks, as well as checks on a car’s lighting, battery and windscreen wipers, screenwash, anti-freeze and oil levels and its air conditioning system.”
XPart’s nationwide network of AutoService centres offers full vehicle health checks and servicing for all makes of car, with specialist servicing available for MG Rover and New MINI. XPart says it “carefully selects each AutoService centre and all those appointed have diagnostic capability and follow a rigorous vehicle check procedure.”
