Techking Places Focus on Service
In recent months Techking has been in the spotlight because of its entry into the passenger car tyre market, yet during CITExpo the Chinese OTR tyre specialist’s exhibition presence was also very much aligned towards the commercial vehicle sector. Techking’s aim was to present itself to its professional customers around the world as a solutions provider rather than just a supplier of tyres, explained market manager James Wang when speaking with Tyres & Accessories: “We want to offer service focusing on tyre management.” Techking presented one such service at the exhibition, namely its “Total Tire Management System” (TTMS).
Under the TTMS name Techking offers its global OTR and truck tyre customers small RFID tags that are affixed to the inside of the tyre and when used in tandem with software from Techking can supply extensive information about the tyre and its operating conditions. Core data such as air pressure, temperature and speed can be displayed in real time upon a small monitor in the driver’s cab and from there be sent via the mobile phone network to the fleet’s main computer system, where the data can then be correlated with data from visual inspections made on the tyre. And even though the fleet operator must invest a four-figure sum for the TTMS, Wang adds that in both the short and long-term they will save a considerable amount on tyres. The system is, however, much more than just a simple TPMS, the market manager promises. And last but not least, the TTMS can supply useful feedback to procurement management regarding tyres and their warehousing. As a whole, tyre operating costs decline and the fleet’s productivity increases. At present the TTMS is undergoing testing in China and Wang assures it will soon be globally operational. For interested customers the Qingdao, Shandong Province-based company offers comprehensive training on the new tyre management system.
In addition to service, during the exhibition Techking also prominently presented, as previously noted, its “Effiplus” brand of passenger car tyres. Barely a year has passed since the brand’s introduction, yet Techking already has released a broad range with eleven tread patterns, including winter tyres. For the coming winter season Techking offers three modern designs: The “Snow King” for 15 to 18-inches, the studdable “Ice King” plus the “Epluto I” for 13 to 15-inches. The tyres are M+S labelled and also feature the snowflake symbol. All Effiplus passenger car tyres are produced by a well-known manufacturer in China.
