Price Advantage Driving Online Sales
According to research undertaken by market research company fast.MAP for mytyres.co.uk, price, choice and convenience are the main reasons why UK motorists are increasingly buying tyres online rather than from high street retailers. One thousand motorists were surveyed in September for the UK Delticom online operation, and price was identified as the most important reason for buying online. Delticom reports that over 80 per cent of respondents indicated that buying online was cheaper and more than 70 per cent said it was easier and quicker than more traditional methods: in excess of half of those surveyed cited the ability to order from the comfort of home as an important factor.
The information also shows, unsurprisingly, that younger drivers are more likely to buy tyres via the internet. Furthermore, men are more likely to purchase tyres online compared and are more active when looking for the best price, speed of purchase and the choice of tyres. Following purchase, a growing number of buyers opt for the tyres to be delivered to a tyre fitting outlet partnering the online retailer; it seems, Delticom notes, that customers appreciate the convenience of a local fitting service from experienced industry professionals.
“More and more consumers are discovering the benefits of purchasing tyres via the internet,” commented Delticom CEO Rainer Binder. “However, there are still a large number of motorists who are not taking advantage of the cost savings and convenience that the internet provides. We will continue to enhance our product offering, which we believe is the best in Europe, to further underline the advantages purchasing online offers consumers.”
