Pirelli F1 Tyres Have “Different Characteristics”: de la Rosa
Pirelli’s test-driver Pedro de la Rosa has told motorsport journalists that pleased with the development of the future tyre supplier’s current product following a two-day testing session at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona. Former Sauber BMW driver de la Rosa told Autosport today: “These Pirelli tyres have their own quite different characteristics to the current supplier that the drivers will appreciate next year. I'm confident that they will form a very competitive package. Pirelli's arrival is great news for Formula One.”
Paul Hembrey, Pirelli’s motorsport director, praised de la Rosa, who has been able to provide a direct comparison of Pirelli’s tyres with the current Bridgestone Potenza products, having taken part in Grands Prix earlier in the season. “Pedro has shown what a valuable asset he is to us through his hard work and detailed feedback,” Hembrey told Autosport. “He’s carrying out a crucial role and the information that he has provided to us has helped us to further define the tyres that we will take to Abu Dhabi.” Pirelli will present a demonstration run of its tyres at the season-closing Grand Prix in the UAE.
