NETA Supports Yorkshire Air Ambulance With Charity Efforts
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA), which provides a life saving emergency service to the five million people across the county, has today received a cheque at their base at Leeds Bradford Airport worth £1000 from Deborah Horton of North Eastern Tyre and Autocare (NETA). The cheque was handed over following a string of fundraising efforts undertaken by the vehicle care specialists.
Deborah Horton is area retail manager for NETA, which has seven retail centres, 15 HiQ Fast Fit centres operated under franchise, as well as five wholesale depots across the North East and Yorkshire. She explains why the charity is so close to NETA’s heart: “The YAA works across the entire region covering rural landscape, major cities as well as motorways and thanks to its rapid response to emergencies it is responsible for rescuing hundreds of lives, many of which are the result of road accidents.”
“Defective brakes and bald tyres for instance, can result in serious accidents and as such, NETA urges drivers to check their cars are safe before travelling on long journeys. NETA offer free tyre and brake safety checks from all our retail branches; it just takes a few minutes to make sure your tyres and brakes are safe and legal.”
Many of the funds raised by NETA came exclusively from voluntary donations from members of the public at the auto specialist’s stand at this summer’s Great Yorkshire Show, where visitors enjoyed a range of attractions from a Pirelli WRC simulator, a Bridgestone F1 simulator as well as face painting for the youngsters.
Tony Doveston of YAA said: “Donations from businesses like NETA are the life blood of the YAA and without them, we simply wouldn’t be able to continue to save lives. In order to maintain our service we need to raise £3700 every day, so any charity efforts and donations are gratefully received.
NETA’s Debbie Horton added: “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank those who have dipped into their pockets to donate to this worthwhile charity and I urge any local businesses keen to get involved with a charity to consider the YAA. We look forward to working with the YAA again in the near future.”
