JCB Extends Michelin OE Fitment Programme

Following extensive development testing at its world headquarters in Rocester, Staffordshire, machinery manufacturer JCB has chosen Michelin’s Power CL as an original equipment fitment on its latest 2CX, 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders. The selection of the Power CL is in addition to the Michelin XMCL which is already the OE radial option.

The Power CL is a cross-ply agro-industrial tyre specifically designed for backhoe loaders, compact wheel loaders and telescopic handlers. Michelin says its key features include a damage-resistant tread area with a robust, closely spaced central lug pattern which minimises punctures, and a rubber compound that reduces tearing in harsh conditions. The Power CL’s cross-ply casing is also said to further enhance the tyre’s resistance to punctures and impact damage due to the type and number of plies. The angle of the casing plies is intended to ensure very high levels of sidewall rigidity which gives excellent vertical and lateral stability – essential for telescopic handlers working at full extension – while also providing excellent sidewall protection.

Five sizes of Power CL are to be fitted to 2CX, 3CX and 4CX models, namely 340/80 – 18 (12.5 – 18), 340/80 – 20 (12.5 – 20),  400/70 – 20 (16.0/70 – 20),  480/80 – 26 (18.4 – 26)  and 440/80 – 28 (16.9 – 28). In total, the Michelin Power CL is available in 11 sizes from 280/80 – 18 TL to 420/80 – 30 TL.
