Halifax Duo Shares Grouptyre/Dunlop Luxury, Motorsport Prize
Managers at Northern Accident Repair Centre in Halifax shared a luxury car and VIP motorsport package at Silverstone after winning the top prize in Grouptyre’s ‘Feel the Passion’ national promotion, organised in conjunction with premier tyre manufacturer and British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) sponsor Dunlop.
Jim McLoughlin, manager of the site in Greetland, enjoyed the use of a Bentley Continental for the weekend, while assistant manager Tony Roberts and his wife were guests at the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. In addition to two nights’ hotel accommodation, they received hospitality passes entitling them to grandstand access during qualifying day, refreshments throughout race day plus a look behind the scenes as the teams made their final preparations.
“The prizes on offer in the Grouptyre/Dunlop promotion were quite something, but I hadn’t given much thought to our chances of winning because I never seem to be that lucky, so it was a great surprise – and a very welcome one – to learn we had landed the top prize,” says Jim, whose company buys tyres from Grouptyre member NE Wholesale.
“Tony and I decided to split the prize and he and his wife had a fantastic weekend as guests of Dunlop, while I put 280 miles on the Bentley Continental’s clock. Tony watches the BTCC on TV so absolutely loved being so close to the action, especially back stage as it were, before the cars went out on the track. My wife and I had the top down on the Bentley to take advantage of the glorious weather and drew more than a few admiring glances during our travels. I think we were the talk of our street for several days!”
All the Dunlop car and 4×4 tyre purchases made during the promotional period by retailers who signed up to take part in the ‘Feel the Passion’ promotion qualified them for entries into the prize draw. These were allocated in accordance with the volume of tyres purchased, based on one entry per Dunlop car and 4×4 tyre and two entries for each ultra high performance W/Y/Z tyre, and the winners were drawn at random.
“We chose a distinct motorsport theme for this promotion to reflect Dunlop’s support for the British Touring Car Championship and maximize the overall excitement surrounding the series and, judging by the response, it struck absolutely the right tone, generating a huge amount of interest among tyre retailers,” says Grouptyre’s marketing manager Lucie Dalton.
