Bridgestone Sales Companies Gain ISO Certification
Bridgestone Europe’s group of 18 national sales companies has been accredited to the revised standard ISO 9001:2008 by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance. Announcing the accreditation, Bridgestone Europe’s senior vice president of Sales & Marketing, Takashi Tomioka, commented: “ISO 9001 is an important standard which we have held since 1992. Ensuring that our sales companies operate to these stringent requirements provides a systematic and visible way to lead and operate our sales organisations. This allows us to focus on meeting our customers’ expectations through consistent products and services”.
The approach Bridgestone Europe took to gaining ISO certification is said to differ from most other major tyre companies as certification is on a European basis rather than by individual sales subsidiary. This, states Bridgestone, reflects its strategy that all customers throughout Europe should receive the same high quality of products and services. The tyre maker adds that, although this Europe-wide approach to certification is more demanding, as all sales companies have to remain continuously in compliance with ISO 9001 requirements, it illustrates Bridgestone’s commitment to the eight ISO Quality Management Principals which include customer focus, involvement of people and mutually beneficial supplier relationships.
