£1 million Darlington Tyre Centre to Open in February 2011
Business partners John and Chris Alexander have announced plans to open a £1 million purpose-built tyre and fast fit centre in Darlington, County Durham. Darlington Tyre and Auto Centre will feature 11 fitting bays and is expected to create 15 new jobs. Speaking to Tyres & Accessories, John Alexander said the project is scheduled to be completed in roughly two months, with an official opening scheduled for February 2011.
According to local newspaper reports, the tyre retail site is being constructed on an empty 17,000 square foot plot in Parkgate which was previously home to a Co-op filling station. “Darlington Tyre and Auto Centre has bought a primary roadside pitch almost opposite the mainline station and just a stone’s throw from the town centre. It is part of an area of comprehensive development supporting a mix of residential and retail uses, so it’s a great choice in terms of its locality and position,” James Devany, charted surveyor with Sanderson Weatherall is quoted as saying.
A family owned business, Darlington Tyre and Auto reportedly employs more than 50 people at its existing sites in Peterlee and Teesside.
