ViaMichelin Website Increases YoY Traffic by 12%
The ViaMichelin website and its Apple application offshoots has reported a landmark year, in which the website scored a 12 per cent increase in traffic and downloads of the “apps” reached a combined total of 1 million. Nine years after the launch of its travel assistance website, ViaMichelin says it has surpassed all previous audience figures since its inception with more than 10 million visits during the week commencing 26 July alone.
By the end of July 2010, the French version of the site alone had accumulated more thank 1 billion visits since its launch in May 2001, while July also saw the total number of route calculations reach the 100,000,000 mark across all of the country sites. Downloads of the apps developed for Apple’s iPhone and iPad reached the 1 million mark during the Summer, starting in 2009 from the launch of ViaMichelin Traffic and Michelin restaurant guides. Usage of the ViaMichelin Traffic app also peaked with 1 million usage requests across July and August.
ViaMichelin says 2010 will be remembered as a landmark year not only for its pleasing audience and download figures but also for the launch of a new travel site, dedicated to preparing tailor-made trips and travel and covering 90 countries. The site offers a combination of rich tourist content, qualified by the Michelin Green Guide teams, global digital mapping services and a variety of high performance services including a travel destination search engine, interactive maps, Michelin-recommended tours, routes, customisable travel books and more features.
