Guizhou Tyre Aiming to Expand in UK and European Markets

Chinese tyre manufacturer Guizhou Tyre Company Ltd has maintained a relatively low profile in the UK up till now, but this is reportedly about to change as a result of the company’s decision to raise its profile with a stand at next month’s Brityrex in Manchester (5-7 October). Here’s how one company representative explained it: “The promotion of our brands within Europe and in the UK especially has been relatively low key in the past. We have now taken the strategic decision to expand our brand profile and distribution network across Europe in general and in particular the UK.” The Guizhou stand at Brityrex will exhibit products from the Advance range of radial/bias OTR tyres, radial truck tyres, agricultural tyres and industrial/fork lift tyres.

For over 50 years Guizhou Tyre Company Ltd has been manufacturing industrial and OTR tyres from the company’s factory in Guiyang located in the South West of China. During the last five decades, Guizhou Tyre has grown to be the largest manufacturer of non-highway tyres within China.

During the year ended 31 December 2009, the firm reportedly produced roughly 5.17 million tyres and sold approximately 5.23 million across over 1000 stock keeping units. In February 2010 the company announced that it had production of around 1.1 million tyres described as all-steel radials – 700,000 “heavy load” tyres and 400,000 light truck radials. Annual exports to South Korea, Britain, Italy, Australia, South Africa, the United States and Canada and a total more than 70 countries and regions account for around 35 per cent of production.
