Latest GT Radial Van Range Lighter, More Fuel Efficient than Predecessor

A reduction in fuel consumption to the tune of two to three per cent is possible with the latest van tyre segment offering from Giti Tire. When compared with its predecessor, the GT Radial Maxmiler EX achieves up to this saving through a ten per cent weight reduction and approximately 15 per cent rolling resistance; the manufacturer states that the production technologies and materials used in the new tyre have enabled such use of an optimised weight construction.

“With these benefits we present the tyre trade with a convincing argument to position the GT Radial Maxmiler EX higher on the pricing scale than its predecessor, enabling dealers to achieve attractive margins whilst providing their customers with superb value for money,” says Richard Lyons, managing director, GITI Tire (UK) Ltd.

In addition to offering benefits at the fuel pump, Giti Tire reports Maxmiler EX has particular strengths in the areas of driving comfort, rolling noise and wet handling. In addition, the manufacturer says the tyre’s silica-based tread compound and bead design increases safety and mileage performance. “With the GT Radial Maxmiler EX we are offering a high-performance tyre that was developed especially for European demand,” comments Lennart Lindstrom, technical director, GITI Tire Europe.

Commercial vans are often subjected to extreme conditions for express delivery services. The combination of heavy loads and high speeds put severe strain on the tyre’s sidewalls, treads and steel belts. Therefore, when developing the Maxmiler EX, Giti Tire says its engineers paid special attention to robustness and high safety reserves. The resultant features designed into the Maxmiler EX are two steel belts reinforced by a new nylon protector, a construction the tyre maker claims is particularly light-weight and gives high performance and driving stability. Furthermore, the tyre bead design and sidewall are said to generate lower heat when the vehicle is in operation, benefitting durability and service life.

“With the GT Radial Maxmiler EX we developed an innovative commercial van tyre that combines maximum safety reserves with above-average handling characteristics and high comfort,” adds Eddie Young, head of the GITI Tire Technical Centre. “In my opinion, there is nothing that can stop our new tyre from becoming a success.”

The new van range is currently available in 21 sizes and Giti Tire reports that further dimensions are now in development. In the UK the Maxmiler EX is exclusively distributed by Micheldever Tyre Services.
