Hoosier’s Don Newton Retires
Hoosier Tire has announced the July 16 retirement of Don Newton, a 36 year veteran of the company. The US based race tyre manufacturer says Newton took early retirement in order to spend more time with his family, and notes that during his career at Hoosier Tire Don Newton oversaw the substantial expansion of the company’s manufacturing operations. His job responsibilities will be re-assigned to John DeSalle, who will assume the new position of vice president of Engineering and Manufacturing and to Craig Benninghoff, who will assume the new position of vice president of Operations.
“Don has made significant contributions to the success of Hoosier over the years,” commented Hoosier Tire founder, president and CEO Bob Newton. “Although we will miss his leadership, Joyce and I are pleased that we were able to provide Don the resources that will allow him to spend more time with his family. In an effort to replace Don’s position we have asked Marge Newton, John DeSalle, Craig Benninghoff and Dennis Sherman to assume more responsibility. As Joyce and I reduce our daily involvement we have directed these four vice presidents to play a larger management role and tasked them with providing leadership to our company.”
“I am grateful for the many years of service Don has provided,” added executive vice president Joyce Newton. “Our plans are to ensure that his retirement is in no way a detriment to this company moving forward. We are blessed to have such a talented staff that Hoosier Tire’s future looks as bright as it always has. Bob and I are optimistic about the company’s long term success.”
