Gulfstream Names Goodyear Aviation Supplier of the Year
Gulfstream, a manufacturer of technologically-advanced business jet aircraft, has named Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.’s Aviation business one of its 2009 Suppliers of the Year. The tyremaker supplies Gulfstream with its Flight Eagle tyres, which are produced for the business jet segment and manufactured at Goodyear’s Danville, Virginia, plant.
To qualify for the award, Goodyear in 2009 achieved consecutive 100% scores on a quarterly supplier measurement rating card, which Gulfstream uses to track overall value, delivery, quality, customer service and compliance for all of its suppliers. Only a small fraction of Gulfstream suppliers achieve the Supplier of the Year designation; this is the second time Goodyear has received the award, according to the tyremaker.
“Goodyear is very proud to have earned this award for excellence as a supplier to a valued customer like Gulfstream,” said William Rathbun, Goodyear’s senior manager of aviation sales in North America. “Goodyear’s Flight Eagles are the business jet industry’s preferred choice of tires. This award from Gulfstream demonstrates that Goodyear not only provides innovative products but also excellent delivery, service and overall value to our customers.”
Goodyear introduced the first airplane tire in 1909. The tyremaker currently is one of the world’s largest suppliers of aviation tyres for commercial, military and general aviation aircraft. The company manufactures aviation tyres in the United States, Thailand, Brazil and The Netherlands.
