Forestry Tyre Demand Prompts Expansion at Trelleborg’s Tivoli Plant
Trelleborg Wheel Systems reports its plans to expand production at its Tivoli plant are at an advanced stage and output will begin to increase before the end of 2010. The 224,000 square metre Tivoli factory, located near the Italian capital, already employs 600 workers and has received new lines for the production of forestry applications in readiness for an increase in forestry tyre output this year and next year.
“We completed installation of the new lines for forestry tyre production during 2009 and began industrialisation of the first sizes in January 2010,” said Marco D’Angelo, industrial director at Trelleborg Wheel Systems. “We expect forestry tyre output to increase during 2010 and 2011 in-line with increased market demand. Additional curing machines will be installed during the next months.”
“The Tivoli site was chosen for this investment due to its unrivalled experience in manufacturing tyres for agricultural applications,” added Susanna Hilleskog, sales and marketing director for Nordic countries at Trelleborg Wheel Systems. “The main objectives of the project is to increase capacity and transfer the high quality standards achieved at Tivoli in production of agricultural radial tyres to the forestry line. By doing this we will provide premium service levels to Trelleborg’s customers in the forestry segment.”
