Federal CEO Tours Taiwan in 595 RPM-shod Ferrari
Federal CEO Jamie Ma – described by company representatives as “a long-term racing enthusiast” –reportedly put his money where his mouth is recently when he toured the company’s home island in his Ferrari 430 Scuderia, shod with Federal’s UHP 595 RPM asymmetric sport tyre in sizes 225/35R19 (front) and 285/35R19 (rear). Taiwan offers varied weather and geographical conditions, and as such provided a good opportunity for the chief executive to try out Federal’s product on a UHP sportscar: “I am serious about performance,” Ma said. “That is why I prefer the 595 RPM over the original factory tyres. You will feel the difference.”
Federal states that Ma’s journey took him through “sizzling heat” and “heavy rainfall” down to Kending at the southern tip of the island, following the South-Loop Highway to enter Tai-Tung and Hua-Lien. Driving on the narrow road between steep cliffs and the Pacific Ocean on the Su-Hua Provincial Highway, Ma said his Ferrari responded well to the curvy, serpentined, mountainous route. Driving in heavy rainfall on the way back up to the heavy traffic of Taipei city centre, Ma arrived at the east coast National Scenic Area – also known as “Taiwan’s last unspoiled land” – which stretches for 170km. The tyre’s four drainage grooves helped maintain a consistent footprint, providing hydroplaning resistance.
Developed for super cars and coupes, Ma says the 595 RPM offered “traction and precise handling… over mountain paths, seaside boulevards or urban streets… It was an epic journey and once-in-a-lifetime experience. To successfully finish the tour around the island really gave me a great sense of accomplishment,” he concluded.
