ATS Euromaster Orders £3 Million of Cold Weather Tyres
ATS Euromaster has placed advance orders for over £3 million worth of cold weather tyres, following strong interest from UK car and van fleets. The decision to raise its winter inventory with more of Michelin’s Pilot Alpin PCRs and Agilis Alpin van tyres comes amidst claims that the upcoming winter will yield greater demand for the seasonal product. The tyre specialist announced its plans to roll-out a cold weather tyre programme in April, and Steve Bury, Head of National Car at the fast-fit specialist, says the company has been quick to set-up the infrastructure and IT systems required to support the planned introduction this October.
“The demand for cold weather tyres from mainland Europe is very high, so it’s been important to secure stock early on,” explains Bury. “We already have commitments from customers to fit 9,000 cold weather tyres, and we’re only in the early stages of talks with a small number of fleets.” ATS Euromaster’s initial order will allow it to fit cold weather tyres to at least 30,000 vehicles – and the company will aim to secure further stock to meet customer orders placed over the coming months.
“The initial demand we’ve seen has come largely from emergency services, government departments, home delivery companies and leasing firms, with vans accounting for about two thirds of the orders placed to-date. Interestingly, the highest demand has been focused on vehicles based in the south east,” Bury says.
The UK’s ATS Euromaster is drawing on the cold weather tyre expertise that exists within the Euromaster Group. It already supplies, fits and stores cold weather tyres for fleets across northern Europe. In the first year ATS Euromaster plans to store customer’s summer tyres within its 377-strong network of fast-fit centres. Every tyre will be clearly labelled to ensure it is refitted to the correct vehicle the following spring.
