XLite Wheels Gains Truck OE Approval
Wheels India’s latest forged aluminium commercial vehicle wheels, distributed under the xlite name in UK and Europe by Manchester-based Motor Wheel Service, have received OE approval. According to the company, three sizes (8.25 x 22.5 inches, 9.00 x 22.5 inches and 11.75 x 22.5 inches) have been awarded the accreditation. The process to obtain certification took four years.
Despite being proud of the achievement John Ellis, managing director or Motor Wheel Service, said the company are not releasing the name of the approving OEM just yet: “At present we cannot unveil which company has given us the OE truck approval, but we expect to announce the name within a matter of months. Rest assured this is a huge breakthrough for the product which verifies its huge potential.”
xlite wheels, are reportedly five times stronger and 40 per cent lighter than the standard steel equivalent, are forged from a single aluminium billet using a computerised numeric control machine to produce a higher degree of production accuracy. They are available in 17.5, 19.5 and 22.5 inch sizes. The product is offered with three finishes – machined, polished and xbrite – with the latter using a special coating which means lower maintenance, minimal cleaning and a lasting shine. Other added benefits include unique safety features, reduced vibration and longer wear on surrounding parts.
