Taunton HiQ Extends Business, Recruits Technician
Fast fit retailer Gary Thomson, owner of Taunton’s Priory Bridge Road HiQ, has invested £15,000 on an extension to his business, also acquiring a highly experienced technician. Thomson invested the five-figure sum on new and improved automotive facilities, merging his store with the adjacent Saab dealership. New recruit Dan Wormer, who started working in the automotive industry in 1972, spending over 35 years working for various Saab dealerships, most recently worked on the site that has become the subject of the merger. Additionally Thomson is employing two additional apprentices, as the centre seeks to capitalise on what it describes as “some excellent trading results”.
The move will allow HiQ to offer motorists a dedicated service in MOT and repair in addition to the successful tyre-focused operation currently in place. The new centre, which will continue to offer Saab motorists a specialist service, will operate alongside HiQ Taunton’s existing site.
Experienced local franchisee and owner Thomson said he was thrilled to be working with such an experienced technician who is so highly regarded in the specialist sector: “To have Dan come on board with us at HiQ Taunton is a big move forward for the business. As well as continuing to offer motorists complete vehicle maintenance and repair, the new site will deal exclusively in MOTs.
“Having the two sites in operation will undoubtedly give us more available time, space and equipment. I am excited about this business growth and I hope motorists will think of us when in the Taunton area.”
Wormer said: “After working solely with SAAB for so many years, it is great to merge with a franchise that has a great reputation and has grown so rapidly.”
Thomson will promote the new site for the next three months by offering motorists an MOT service for £29.95.
