MAI International ‘Guarantees’ Performance
At the recent Reifen tyre show in Essen, Italian company MAI International showed examples of its Maxam range of all-steel radial OTR tyres, designed to cope with the requirements of vehicles working in today's construction, mining and civil engineering industries. And all this comes with the backing of a five-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
The range of tyres consists of a variety of sizes and tread patterns to suit different applications. For example, the MSV01 is designed primarily for on- and off-road use and its construction means minimal road noise and reduced vibration for enhanced operator comfort. The MS201 features an off-road directional tread design and it is said to offer low noise and reduced vibration too. For more demanding and winter/snow applications, the Maxam MS202 SnowXtra tyre is available in 24 and 25-inch rim sizes, suitable for loaders and articulated dumpers. The self-cleaning tread provides excellent winter traction and the cut-resistant compound prolongs service life.
Other tyres in the Maxam range include the MS301 and MS 302; both available in E3 and L3 tread patterns, and the MS303 (E3), whose rugged, off-road tread design enhances traction in tough conditions. Like many other Maxam tyres, it incorporates a cut- and wear-resistant compound.
When the going gets even tougher, there are Maxam tyres designed to cope and perform well under pressure. For example, the MS401, MS402, MS403 and MS404 are available with aggressive, self-cleaning, E4 tread designs for 33 and 35-inch rims. The MS404 is available in E4 and L4 patterns for 25-inch rims.
Working in and around mines creates its own, unique problems and the Maxam range includes two tyres – going under the name MineXtra – designed specifically for this demanding application. First is the MS501, which boasts an aggressive, extra-deep L5 tread design and comes in five sizes for 25-inch rims. The MS502 L5S has an extra-deep smooth tread, offering optimum wear resistance and long life, as well as excellent traction and flotation. It too is available for 25-inch rims, in six different sizes.
Quality manufacturing from China
Maxam tyres are produced by a subsidiary company of the MAI Group: the MAI (Shandong) Radial Tire Company, based in the Shandong Province of China. The factory boasts the latest manufacturing techniques, materials and equipment and there are strict quality controls at all stages of manufacture, from inspection of raw materials to the testing of finished products. According to the company, the range is constantly monitored to ensure that it meets users’ changing requirements and feedback from distributors and end users is vital in deciding when to add new sizes and patterns.
From here the tyres are sold all over the world and company representatives suggest they have rapidly developed a reputation for “reliability, performance and longevity.” When it comes to quality, MAI is prepared to put its money where its mouth – hence the five-year warranty.
