MAI Hails Panama Show ‘A Great Success’

Following its appearance at Reifen 2010 in Essen and, just four weeks later, Italian radial OTR tyre manufacturer MAI International took part in the Latin American & Caribbean Tyre Expo, held on the other side of the world in Panama City. MAI Group CEO Ian Thomas declared the event "a great success", saying: "It was a terrific show for us and proved an ideal showcase for our MAXAM range of OTR tyres."

He went on: "This is the first time we have exhibited at a show in this region and, not only was there a lot of interest shown in our products, but we did some very good business and took a number of firm orders for tyres."

MAI International also took the opportunity to confirm the appointment of a new Maxam dealer for Latin America; Grupo Sailun Latin America S. De RL, which has offices in El Salvador, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Peru and Venezuela. The deal was signed by Ian Thomas and Grupo Sailun’s resident, Marco Zigni and CEO Gustavo Lima.

Speaking of the appointment, Ian Thomas said: “We are looking forward to working with Grupo Sailun in promoting the Maxam brand in this part of the world. They were won over by Maxam’s great quality and service, while for our part we were impressed by their organisation and resources. The dealership agreement was the icing on the cake in what was a very successful show.”

Almost 100 exhibitors took space at the Latin American & Caribbean Tyre Expo and the four-day show was attended by decision makers and executives from across the region’s tyre industry. Plans are underway for a similar event in 2011, with exact dates to be advised.
