Bridgestone’s Akron Tech Center on Track
The construction of Bridgestone Americas’ new $100 million Akron Technical Center is progressing as planned, with a targeted finish date of 1 January, 2012, reports Tire Review.
Workers currently are doing concrete footer and basement work. Structural steel should begin going up in August, followed by the installation of glass in the late fall, according to a report in the Akron Beacon-Journal.
The facility, which had a ceremonial groundbreaking in February, will house employees now in the current technical center building, housed in what was once Firestone Tire & Rubber Co.’s corporate headquarters and a tyre factory.
