Atturo Tire Targets Affordable SUV Market
Occupying a booth in Hall 2, Atturo Tire’s Michael Mathis was enthusiastic about the opportunity provided by Reifen to make contact with the company’s European dealers (Micheldever in the UK), while also gaining new distributors. Mathis mentioned Spain, Italy, Eastern Europe and the Middle East as the territories from which much of the traffic for the stand came. Though the company had expected “a higher quantity of visitors,” said Mathis, “the quality of the traffic has been good. In a month from now, I think we will be pretty satisfied,” he concluded.
In terms of the product offering on the stand, Mathis stressed the company’s own brand SUV HP model for 18 sizes from 19” to 24”, the AZ800. Production on the tyre started in September 2009 following a swift development process. The tyre is manufactured in Taiwan and come with all applicable certifications including DOT, E-mark, S-mark and Inmetro certification.
“The tyre is targeted particularly at the used car market,” said Mathis, explaining that there is an opportunity for Atturo’s competitively priced to provide an “affordable alternative” to drivers who have not bought the car from new, since they are more likely to look outside the premium brand options. He mentioned the BMW X5 as a vehicle the AZ800 had been geared towards, in terms of the sizes available. There will be another two sizes available by the end of 2010, he concluded, also suggesting that the company had its eye on the performance and light truck segments.
