Riders on Dunlop Take First 3 Isle of Man TT Wins
Having begun on Saturday, the 2010 Isle of Man TT’s first three races have been won on Dunlop tyres, with six of the nine available podium places taken by riders using the manufacturer’s rubber. Saturday saw the first of the two Superbike races, with Iain Hutchinson finishing first and company namesake Michael Dunlop finishing in second on Dunlop’s Ntec slick tyres. This was followed on Monday by the first of the two Supersport races, won by Hutchinson and Dunlop coming in third. The Superstock 1000cc race saw Hutchinson complete a hat-trick of wins with Ryan Farquhar taking a close second, both riding on Dunlop D211GP’s.
The latter race provided Hutchinson with a new lap record for the Superstock class with an average speed of 130.741mph. This is the first ever 130mph-plus lap on a stock production machine using road legal tyres. Dunlop says its D211GP provides “outstanding performance and grip” for the Isle of Man TT racers while sharing its “race proven technology with general road going bike tyres such as the SportSmart, RoadSmart and GP Racer D211”. The manufacturer reports that the D211GP has now provided Dunlop with more than 170 podium finishes, over 25 rider championships in top-class Superstock/Supersport and hundreds of club level race wins.
Mark Sears from Dunlop Motorsport said: “We have had a great start to the race week with three outright wins out of three races. With the second Supersport race and Senior Superbike race yet to go we are out in force at the TT ensuring that all of our teams are shod with the very best Dunlop rubber produced at our motorsport plant in Birmingham.”
