Pirelli Partners for Summer Safety
Italian drivers have earned themselves something of a reputation for not being Europe’s meekest motorists, so news of Pirelli’s co-presentation of a summer road safety campaign is very welcome indeed. On June 16 the tyre maker, in collaboration with ‘Autostrade per l’Italia’ and Telepass (the company that builds and manages Italy’s motorways and its electronic toll collection system), presented the “Safe&Go” summer road safety campaign, to be operated under the patronage of the Italy’s minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Altero Matteoli. The minister attended the launch along with Pirelli Group chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera, together with Giovanni Castellucci and Fabio Cerchiai, respectively the managing director and president ‘Autostrade per l’Italia’.
The prevention campaign involves about 1,400 tyre dealers in Pirelli workshops and has the objective of making driving during the holidays safer. It begins on the weekend 19-20 June and concludes August 29. On weekends during this time motorists can meet with Pirelli technicians in one of the ten mobile workshops set up in motorway service areas that the Società Autostrade makes available and receive a tyre check free of cost. This initiative is accompanied by a Pirelli financed incentive programme, under which up to 170 euros will be contributed to those who decide to replace their worn or non-compliant tyres with new Pirelli products by August 14.
