Nokian’s Kim Gran Awarded Finnish Honorary Title
On June 11 the President of Finland awarded Kim Gran, the president and CEO of Nokian Tyres, the Finnish honorary title of “Vuorineuvos”. This traditional title is given to leading captains of industry, and comes with no responsibilities or privileges.
In listing Gran’s achievements, Nokian Tyres states he has been president and CEO of the company since 2000. “During this time, the company has grown rapidly, become increasingly international and strengthened its position outside the traditional Nordic markets, particularly in Russia, the CIS states and Eastern Europe,” stated Nokian.
Kim Gran has also served in a number of various positions of trust and on company boards. Currently he is chairman of the Board of the Rubber Manufacturers’ Association of Finland, the deputy chairman of the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland, member of the boards of YIT Corporation and Konecranes Oyj, member of the Supervisory Board of Ilmarinen, and member of the board of the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce.
Incidentally, those receiving the title of Vuorineuvos must pay the Finnish state a stamp duty of around 50,000 euros; usually this cost is covered by the company or organisation that submitted the request for the person to receive the title.
